Learn new things as a Family
06.10.09
On 28th October charity BF Adventure is hosting a free family learning day at its Goodygrane Activity Centre near Penryn. The programme is aimed at unemployed people aged 19-65 and their families (up to 3 members aged 7+). On the multi-activity day, the group will be taking part in exciting outdoor activities such as archery, climbing, canoeing and team building exercises to develop transferable skills such as communication, teamwork and leadership.
“The first family learning day held in September has been a huge success. It was great to see families trying something new and learning as a team. Participants have since taken steps to find employment such as seeking support on writing application and job search as well as engaging in further education and training”, says Programme Manager Sam Sawyer.
The Family learning days are part of the LSC (Learning and Skills Council) initiatives that have received investment from the ESF Convergence Programme, supporting family learning to support parents further develop their employability skills. There will also be an information marketplace at the end of the day with Basic Skills Assessments and Information, Advice and Guidance sessions running throughout the day. Participants can be supported with transport and childcare for children under 7yrs old and will also be provided with lunch.
BF Adventure is an outdoor activity centre and a charity, which has been supporting the Cornish community and young people in particular since 1989. Through the medium of outdoor activities clients develop important life skills to move towards a brighter future.
